'You look like a porn star' 'Which one?'
Last weekend I went to Liverpool with Postcode to see them play the cavern. The weekend went something like
Saturday
Went to work for a bit and then wandered down to the Sea Terminal to meet everyone. On the boat I did some homework, because I'm so very rock and roll. We arrived in Liverpool, booked into the hotel and then headed to the pub (old habits die hard). Headed down to The Cavern to see what its like. Its a bit odd really. Two completely seperate rooms, the back room being the one where the bands play. Over the two nights we were there there didn't seem to be anyone who just came down to see music 'cause there'd be live music there. People only seemed to come to see a specific band; and then leave. Which in my mind is really rude, but maybe that's just me, you don't go watch your mates and then bugger off. On saturday the front room had a cheesy disco on, which again I found a bit odd. Nothing against cheesy discos, and I completely understand the need to make money, I just can't fathom why you'd go to the Cavern for that. When were leaving Riggs got very distressed 'cause thet were playing 'I've had the time of my life', but the djs dancing and doing the lift made things a bit better. Anyway, that's slightly besides the point. We saw a great band from Japan called Under Graph who as well as being really good were very lovely. I now have a signed cd and Marie has the guitar player's shirt (also, much to Riggs' relief the drummer was female).
Sunday
A very tired band of people wandered round Liverpool desiring food. And then Revo wasn't open yet :( I wandered off to meet
trentsbytch at Lime Street and then marched her towards Matthew Street (I was really hungry). And then there was Revo and there was food and it was good. Off we went and wandered and then met up and went to the hotel. The guys then wandered off to soundcheck while Gen, Sue and I got to watch some of the Grand Prix (much to Sue's disapointment). Of which I don't remember much of what happened because I made the mistake of lying down and I was sleepy and the pillow smelled good. I did mange to move though and we headed back to the Cavern. Saw part of a great band from the states called Strangeway. Usually a four piece, but half of them weren't able to make the trip so the singer and bass player did a set.
Postcode played brilliantly. I took lots of photos, 'cause I'm kelly and that's what I do. Sometime (hopefully soon) I'll manage to load 'em. And I'm a bit shit with reviews. But safe to say they gave it 110% and it showed. Big up to Riggs for playing only a few practices.
Then we went back to the hotel and then suddenly it was about twenty to five in the morning (no idea what happened there, nope *g*)
monday
There was tirdness. There was a shopping trip to melt brains. There was the lack of me being able to find a pretty dress for I am a little oddly shaped and between sizes. There was Revo again. Then there was the boat. And then boat played Nancy Boy, which made me happy.
